One north Norfolk woman’s Christmas was made extra-sparkly after she was announced as the lucky winner of a £2,000 diamond.

The jewel was donated by Webbs, in Holt, in aid of veterans’ charity Walking With The Wounded.

And winner Judith Mitchell was over the moon when director Olly Webb phoned her with the good news.

The diamond competition raised a total of £2,050 for the charity, with people buying £10 tickets throughout November and December to have a chance of winning.

The lucky ticket was drawn at 2pm on Friday, December 22, by double leg amputee war veteran Duncan Slater.

Ed Parker, co-founder and chief executive of Walking With The Wounded said: “We are hugely grateful to Webbs Jewellers – not only was it such a fun idea but hugely generous and the funds raised will significantly improve the lives of our ex-servicemen and women.

“Such an amount could pay for two veterans to complete our mental health programme or indeed pay for the training and skills needed for an ex-serviceman or woman to get back into employment allowing him / her to regain their independence.

“Thank you to Olly and all the team at Webbs.”
